Kharkov on the threshold of graduation ceremonies

On June 27 traditional graduation parties will take place at all the comprehensive schools, lyceums and gymnasiums of the city. The official part and amateur concert parties will take place at school halls at the majority of educational institutions whereas the festive programme will continue at different cafés and restaurants of the city.

In the evening of June 28 a big concert with participation of pop stars will be arranged specially for school-leavers on the main place of Kharkov by the city authorities. Officials organized schoolchildren polling on the site of the City Department of Education and made a list of ten top candidates. Olga Demenko, the head of the City Council Education Authority, said that Potap and Nastya Kamenskih, Natalya Mogilevskaya and “Fabrika Zvezd” are among the leaders. These bands have already consented to participate in the event.

This year not only popular artists will appear on stage but school-leavers themselves as well. The latter played only the role of spectators last year. Olga Demenko also noted that Ukrainian performers will appear at the city-wide graduation ceremony for the first time and that there will be other singers at the festive occasion.

The Education Authority reported that forthcoming graduation ceremony in the centre of Kharkov will be held by sponsors. There are no means for that in the municipal budget.

It should be noted that this year 12.5 thousand pupils finish school in Kharkov. 632 of them will be given 465 gold and 167 silver medals for high academic achievements.
