International Children's Day
2009-06-01
Congratulations on the International Children's Day, which also has marked the beginning of the summer.
This day is one of the oldest international holidays.
The decision to hold it was made by the Women's International Democratic Federation at the special session in November 1949.
The first International Children's Day was held in 1950. U.N.O. supported the initiative and declared the protection of the rights, life and health of children as one of its priorities.
The International Children's Day was very popular in the Soviet Union, particularly among pupils, who associated the protection of children with the beginning of the summer holidays, which are the longest holidays in the year.
We wish you to enjoy this day and to get as much benefit and use as possible from this holiday.
